About Us
Today’s Air Force is a modern and dynamic part of the New Zealand Defence Force (NZDF). It delivers military air operations in New Zealand and round the globe to advance New Zealand’s security interests and protect its people.
The RNZAF is characterised by its swift response, long reach and ability to adapt to a range of contingencies.
To operate RNZAF aircraft and equipment, it expects its people to be committed, professional and act with integrity. RNZAF personnel have the opportunity to experience the world in a way few other people can. No matter what role they are in, it’s a unique profession and one that can offer a range of exciting and challenging careers.
The RNZAF's tasks to meet the requirements of the NZDF are achieved through the Force Elements. Deployed Force Elements are squadron sized or smaller detachments of two or more aircraft, with operational and support personnel.
Current RNZAF Force Elements include Maritime Patrol Force, Fixed Wing Transport Force, Rotary Wing Transport Force and Units.
The RNZAF is a high profile organisation, often attracting media and community attention as it goes about its business for the people of New Zealand. It works closely with other military organisations here and overseas and is part of the wider NZDF and whole of New Zealand Government approach to advancing New Zealand's defence and security interests.
Step up to a career with the RNZAF - it’s not just about pilots, we have a diverse range of career paths from engineers, logisticians, communications, security, aircrew and other skilled trades.
