The Airforce Proms 2008
Over 120 musicians from the massed bands of the Royal New Zealand Air Force get together with special guests for a spectacular show on a grand scale.
The event, starting at 2pm on Sunday 14 September promises to be a feast of music, ranging from the traditional to the modern.
Audiences will be able to sing along to old proms favourites such as ‘Land of Hope and Glory’, be wowed by the skill of the drums corps and enjoy the merriment of Fred Dagg’s gumboot song.
Performing alongside members of the RNZAF bands will be a group of secondary school musicians, having the chance to play alongside professional musicians in a large concert.
RNZAF Director of Music, Squadron Leader Owen Clarke said the event keeps getting bigger and better each year.
“With all the bands coming together it is quite spectacular, both in size and sound. It is also the chance for everyone to have a good time while listening to first-class music.”
