Principal Defence Chaplain Donald Parker welcomed everyone and commenced the service with an opening prayer followed by a reading from Isaiah II. Wreaths were laid by His Excellency Kwang-il Noh, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, the Honourable Judith Collins, Minister of Veterans’ Affairs, the Honourable Rick Barker, representative of the Leader of the Opposition, Brigadier Mark Wheeler, representing the Chief of Defence Force and Jim Nielsen, National President, New Zealand Korea Veterans’ Association.
Air Force bugler Corporal David Kempton played the Last Post and Reveille, and the ANON Vocal ensemble sung “Prayer of King Henry VI’. After the benediction the official party laid roses on the Tomb of the Unknown Warrior. Guests and veterans laid poppies in remembrance of those who didn’t return from the war.
