CHRISTCHURCH EARTHQUAKE - NZ DEFENCE FORCE - UPDATE 7

The Royal New Zealand Navy’s Multirole Vessel HMNZS CANTERBURY will be heading to Wellington on Sunday, leaving Lyttelton in the early hours of the morning with a planned arrival time in Wellington around 7pm.
There she will unload excess military supplies and equipment she had embarked for Exercise Southern Katipo and will fill this space with aid supplies including water, 20 plus vehicles, fuel tanker, fire appliances, telecom vans, engineer bridging and general materials for transit back to Lyttelton.
She will depart Wellington early on Monday morning for the return voyage.
She will also refuel and take on fresh water and provisions.
While she is away, HMNZS OTAGO and HMNZS PUKAKI, will continue to provide assistance to the people of Lyttleton.
Commander Joint Forces NZ, Air Vice Marshall Peter Stockwell will be visiting NZDF Units and other Civil Defence units in Christchurch today.
On Sunday the Chief of the Defence Force, Lieutenant General Rhys Jones, will be returning to Christchurch. He will be visiting NZ Defence Force units and meeting Defence partners working in the city.
LT GEN Jones was in the city when the earthquake struck on Tuesday.
