Opening of helicopter hangar and welcome ceremony for new A109 Light Utility helicopters

Media are invited to Royal New Zealand Air Force Base Ohakea to attend the opening ceremony for the new helicopter hangar and the Introduction into Service ceremony for the new A109 Light Utility Helicopters (A109LUH) on Friday 13 May.
Media attending the ceremony will need to please be at the Base gate by 9.20am, and photo id will be required for access onto Base.
Media wishing to attend the ceremony need to register with Anna Sussmilch, 021 676 338 by midday Thursday 12 May to ensure access onto Base.
The new A109LUH fleet heralds an important milestone for the RNZAF. The A109LUH is a lightweight, twin-engine helicopter with a modern glass cockpit and a retractable wheel undercarriage. The new helicopters will replace the Air Force’s Bell Sioux helicopters which have been in service since 1965.
