January 2012 - Crew aboard the RNZAF Hercules were first on the scene providing support to the stricken Russian fishing vessel, Sparta, located on the Ross Sea. Pumps, fuel and equipment were air dropped onto the vessel.
The RNZAF C130 Hercules dropped the first equipment on 17 December and a second drop on 21 December. Both missions were successfully completed.
