The Search and Rescue crew

I would like to say a big thank you to the Royal New Zealand Air Force (and the Northland Police) Search and Rescue Squad for their thoughtfulness.

They kept to their times and it was good to see that although they were conducting a training exercise, they kept my three young grandchildren entertained.

When the helicopter took off, my grandchildren were up on our barbeque table watching them fly off and when they returned, yes, they were there, ready and waiting to see them come back, waving like mad, and were ecstatic when the crew waved back.

It was the most wonderful sight to see my grandchildren out in the fresh air and interested in something other than watching television or playing computer games or complaining they were bored.

The helicopter did a lovely flight past our house and zoomed off, which we think was a good-bye to the children who, once again, were there to salute them goodbye.

Well done No 3 Squadron for making this New Zealand family’s day! Ed.
