Donation cheque

On 25 November 2009, Wing Commander Ron Logan visited Samoa and presented a cheque to village High Chief, Se’a Oloali’i Ailuai that was received with much gratitude.

Letter of thanks

On behalf of my village, I would like to thank everyone involved with the generous donation. The handover ceremony was well received and all were very moved by the kind gesture.

The funds have now been deposited into the Vavau Village bank account, where it will sit until a meeting is held early this year, with all the village elders, to finalise the best way to distribute and use these funds for the rebuilding.

My family based in Samoa, New Zealand, and Australia has given me the same emotional and heart felt response. While we all made what donations we could to assist family members who had became homeless as a result of the tsunami, we are forever grateful by the response of the RNZAF and their specific fundraising for the people of Vavau.

The RNZAF not only assisted the people of Samoa in a formal capacity of duty, but individuals pulled out of their personal pockets to help. I am sincerely grateful to my Air Force family.

Kind regards
CPL Ben Le Doux-Taua’a
