The Contract team

The Materiel Support Wing at Base Auckland recently hosted representatives from Rockland Aerospace, MHD International, and staff from the Defence Purchasing Office (DPO) Washington, to discuss the finer details of the C-130 and B-757 Support Contracts.

The week consisted of a series of workshops, meetings and visits across Base, with a view to fully understanding each others’ roles and responsibilities regarding the contract. A full range of topics were discussed and it was confirmed that Rockland Aerospace have a massive amount of corporate information and platform understanding that they intend to bring to bear to support both the C-130 and B-757 fleets over the length of the contract.

With a new Rockland Aerospace warehouse opened in Albany, providing support from within New Zealand, it is an exciting time for all concerned. Rockland Aerospace are contracted to provide consumables support to both platforms and Rotable (repair and purchase) support to the B-757. Process improvements and potential for savings were identified during meetings.

The visit was successful and provided excellent value. Both the representatives from Rockland Aerospace and the DPO contributed with openness and flexibility in discussions, which culminated in a great way forward for all concerned.
