A new look for the Air Force

The Air Force’s visual identity has undergone a refresh.

Our logo has been tweaked to better reflect our place in the world in 2010 and beyond.

Developed in-house by Defence Communications Group (DCG) Senior Designer Amy Trlin, the refresh was undertaken to add strength and a more modern feel to a brand that already holds a valued place in New Zealand society.

Our Air Force logo has significant brand recognition, so this was never going to be about starting over. It is an evolution rather than a revolution. We have a new, more stylised kiwi inside our roundel, bolder lettering, and have introduced our new Maori name, to create a look that reflects the Air Force of today.

Designed in-house to keep costs to a minimum, the new logo is part of the continuous improvement that we strive to achieve in how we present ourselves to the world.

The new visual identity will be rolled out over time to save costs. Amy and the DCG are currently developing an updated general Air Force brochure, a new PowerPoint template, and some Air Force branded posters and collateral for school visits and expos.

Our websites will also be updated to reflect the new identity.

And, of course, we hope you’ve noticed that Air Force News has also had a bit of a spruce up too. We hope you like the new layout and continue to enjoy a good read each month.
