485 (NZ) SQN Reunion

No 485 (NZ) Squadron Association held a successful reunion at RNZAF Base Auckland over the weekend 26-28 Feb 2010 with the support of its ‘big brother’—No 485 Wing RNZAF.
So strong is the Squadron spirit that the remaining pilots get together every other year to renew old friendships and share a tale or two.
Host for this year’s reunion was GPCAPT Tony Davies. “The reunion was a wonderful opportunity for 485 Wing staff to meet the members of No 485 (NZ) Squadron from which the Wing takes its name,” GPCAPT Davies said.

“You are a very special bunch of airman and ground crew, and did amazing things in the active days of No. 485 Squadron. We owe so much to you and your courage, skill and bravery,” GPCAPT Davies said.
The highlight for everyone was the flying display of a Spitfire on the Saturday afternoon, expertly flown by SQNLDR Sean Perrett. A formal dinner followed in the Officers’ Mess on the Saturday evening and was marked with great humour, big stories and much social interaction. A very memorable and enjoyable weekend was had by the veterans.
