RNZAF 73rd Anniversary
RNZAF Queens Colours
The Royal New Zealand Air Force commemorated its 73rd anniversary on Sunday 28 March 2010, at the Wellington Cathedral.
Chief of Air Force, Air Vice-Marshal Graham Lintott was in attendance, together with official guests, RNZAF and wider Defence Force personnel, and members of the public.
The formal Service commenced with an impressive parade of the Air Force Colours. The music was provided by the Central Band of the RNZAF, and included a haunting rendition of the Last Post and Reveille by trumpeter, Corporal David Kempton.
Leading Aircraftsman Amy Ensor gave an inspiring speech, drawn from her late Grandfather, WGCDR Maechel Ensor’s recollections, and her personal experience of life in the RNZAF.
Remembered in the Service were those who served in the RNZAF during peace and war, and particularly those whose lives were lost while serving, including those who fought and died in other Air Forces.
The Service concluded with a moving tribute and dedication to the men and women of today’s Air Force.
