Married to the Air Force

The happy couple: Bride Carolyn Baigent (nee Holyoake) and nervous Groom W/O Noel (Budgie) Baigent. WN-10-0002-070.
The happy couple

On the morning of 31 March 2010, the subtle strains of panpipes floated gently from Base Whenuapai’s Chapel. The music was the prelude to the marriage of Warrant Officer Noel ‘Budgie’ Baigent to Carolyn Holyoake.

The wedding was to be a low-key event but, testament to the popularity of Budgie and Carolyn, what should have been a fairly empty Chapel soon became full with well wishers and friends who converged from around the Base to witness the celebration.

Chaplain, Squadron Leader Ant Hawes performed the touching ceremony over the couple, who were illuminated with a gentle light from the overhead stained glass window.

The signing of the register followed the wedding and then the party moved to the foyer for the customary ‘cutting of the cake’. Bubbly and snacks followed, after which the newly wed Mr and Mrs Baigent drove off into the distance to prepare for their honeymoon.

On behalf of Materiel Support Wing, we pass on our congratulations and wish the couple all the best for their future together.
