The Reviewing Officer for the parade was Chief of Air Force, Air Vice-Marshal Graham Lintott. Commander Training Group, Group Captain Stephen Davies Howard said IOTC prepares graduates as future Air Force leaders. “Meeting current and future challenges require exceptional leadership, agility, flexibility, and an ability to manage, rather than avoid, risk. The graduates of 10/01 Initial Officer Training Course are ready for that challenge. They now commence the next phase of their journey towards providing today’s Air Force with the leadership and innovation needed to attain our collective future goals.”
During the parade, Officer Cadet Deane Wilson was the graduate who attained the highest overall assessment in the areas of academics, leadership skills and personal qualities. He was presented with the No. 2 Officers’ Mess Trophy and Chief of Air Force Coin.
Officer Cadet Carl Montgomery was presented with the Officer Training Course Trophy, which is awarded to the graduate who is seen, by the Initial Officer Training Directing Staff, to demonstrate the most Officer potential.
IOTC aims to develop leadership and military skills and introduce aspiring officers to the RNZAF. The new graduates can now look forward to being posted as pilots, engineers, air crew or into operational support positions.
