Kiwi Blue's Season

MACR Pope says the two middle photos, ‘are the view looking back at the C-130 Hercules as we had just taken a four way linked exit (holding on to each other) off the ramp. The guy directly in front is FLTLT Brent Iggo (Blue 4), and the guy to the left is once again the face of the Air Force, he’s wearing a video camera helmet AND you can see the sight on the front of the helmet. Jumping out of aircraft isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. But if you’re one of the Air Force’s elite Kiwi Blue parachute team (drawn from the Parachute Training Support Unit) air show season, combined with fine weather makes for a busy time leaping out of aircraft.

The dramatic photos on this page were taken by F/S Kevin Pope wearing a helmet-mounted camera during the team’s jumps from a DC-3 and a C- 130 Hercules. The DC-3 was recently repainted in No.42 Squadron colours after spending many years in Normandy landing colours.
