ANZAC Day 2007
ANZAC Day is our annual day of commemoration for those who have given their lives in the service of our country. We share the day with Australia, and we include our allies and increasingly our former foes as we remember the awful cost of past conflicts.
April 25th was the day of the landing of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps at Gallipoli in 1915. Annual services remembering those killed in that campaign began as early as 1916 and continue today, in which Australians and New Zealanders remember those who served and died in all the wars our nations have been involved in – it is sobering to recall that our most recent combat death was in Timor Leste in 2000. Similarly, other servicemen have died this century, through accidents while on peace support operations.

Ceremonies to mark ANZAC Day were held in New Zealand and around the world. On ANZAC Day, the NZDF had 670 personnel serving overseas in 19 countries. An important part of our annual day of remembrance is the selling of poppies, to help raise funds for Veterans’ welfare. Service personnel assist in this annual appeal, which this year occurred on Friday 20 April.
The following images present a photographic record of ANZAC Day 2007.
