Hard work pays off for new Avionics Technicians
‘From the ashes of many, rise the glorious few.’ 07/1 AVTECHS
Perseverance, hard work, dedication and team work payed off for new Avionics Technicians when they graduated on 23 October. W/O Muza Davies writes about the achievement.
The Phoenix is a mythical bird that repeatedly rises from the ashes to renew itself and most recently has been used to depict commitment and belief, as in JK Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets’. Professor Dumbledore’s fiery pet saves the day to rescue Harry from his nemesis. So be it with eleven course members from the 07/1 Avionics Technicians course who successfully graduated from their Avionics Technicians training on 23 October 2007.
So what? Some may say. Just another graduation of ‘techos at Ground Training Wing…ho hum, yawn, yawn.
Before individuals pass unfair judgement, the significance of the achievement must be comprehended. This course of eleven (11) students is the first in many years to graduate with all who started the course - there were no suspensions, removals or recourse from the training. It took six AV Mech courses to get the eleven starters and analysis indicates that had all 07/1 Av Tech personnel passed their respective Mech and Tech courses first time round, none would have been starters on 07/1 AV Techs in the first place! Certain individuals may have been (or at least OOM listed) JNCOs already. With this in mind, the graduates can be justifiably proud that their perseverance, hard work, dedication and team work prevailed to ensure that all eleven graduated their advanced trade training. The bonding, academic support and camaraderie combined to ensure no one was left behind.
The course poster, designed and presented by 07/1 Avionics Techs, serves to inspire subsequent Avionics students. Electrotechnology Training Squadron is proud to highlight that these individuals displayed the desired attributes sought by the RNZAF, traits that will bode well for each individual of the course, irrespective of any future adversity, as they have shown that they can encourage success. Well done.
