New Met Service Contract
By SQNLDR Graeme Todd
New Met Service contract signed.
On Tuesday 26 August 2008, a new Contract for the Provision of Meteorological Products and Services for the NZDF was signed by GPCAPT Shaun Clarke, Commander Operational Support Group, and Mr Ray Thorpe, Marketing Manager, NZ Met Service.
Witnessing the signing was SQNLDR Jim Jennings, Coordinator of Operational Support. Mr Richard Wilson, Senior Business Adviser in the Directorate of Air Force Finance, was heavily involved in drafting the new Contract.
Met Service is one of only two certified providers of aviation meteorological products in New Zealand and is the only one capable of providing all the products and services required by the RNZAF. The contract will run for a five year term and continues the service that Met Service has provided since it was formed as an SOE back in 1992.
In addition to meeting the RNZAF’s meteorological needs, the new contract also includes the provision of meteorological products for the NZ Army’s UAV operations, and the RNZN.
