International Qualification

Four Air Force personnel have been among the first in the country to be awarded with an internationally recognised health and safety qualification.
At the presentation of International Safety Certificates.
It was the first time the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health course for the International General Certificate has been run in New Zealand.
The intensive two week course covered a range of health and safety issues including identifying hazards, risk assessments and promoting health and safety culture in an organisation.
RNZAF Safety Education Manager Warrant Officer Marty Fitchett says the Air Force is committed to having the highest standards of workplace safety and health.
‘The RNZAF is serious about workplace health and safety and realises the importance of personnel receiving high-quality training in this area. This internationally recognised NEBOSH qualification not only benefits the individuals, but the whole of the organisation.’ The four Directorate of Air Force Safety and Health personnel who completed the inaugural course were: W/O Marty Fitchett, Safety Education Manager and W/O Kevin Ward, Safety Assessment Manager from Base Whenuapai; F/S Lindsay Norriss, Safety Adviser at Base Woodbourne and F/S Pete Healy, Safety Adviser at Base Ohakea.
