Commitment to Service earns Commendations

Four Defence Force personnel - Wing Commander Philip Champion, Lieutenant Colonel Mark Blythen, Squadron Leader Karl Harvey, and Lieutenant Commander Steve Horrell, were awarded Chief of Defence Force Commendations today at Defence House in Wellington.
The CDF Commendations were presented by Lieutenant General Jerry Mateparae, Chief of Defence Force , who said the four recipients exhibited exemplary initiative and a professional expertise that far exceeded the expectation of their roles.
The CDF Commendations were awarded for a variety of activities including development of an electronic activity reporting system, providing logistics support to the Provincial Reconstruction Team in Afghanistan, organising the NZDF response to the Boxing Day Tsunami in December 2004, and development of an operational planning database which enhances planning interoperability.
