New bomb disposal facility opens

The new headquarters and specialised training facility of the New Zealand Defence Force’s Explosive Ordnance Disposal Squadron at Trentham Army camp will be opened by the Minister of Defence the Honourable Phil Goff on Monday.
This is a major strengthening of the New Zealand Defence Force’s ability to respond to both conventional and improvised bomb threats including chemical, biological, radiological and explosive devices.
Media will be able to tour the facility prior to the opening ceremony.

Opening ceremony 2.30pm
Where: Trentham Military Camp
What: Opening of new Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) headquarters and training facility.
