The Ohakea Open Day and Airshow promises to be an exciting, action-packed event with flying and static displays that includes Iroquois, Seasprite, P3 Orion and C130 Hercules. The Kiwi Blue parachute team will be jumping out of aircraft and the Red Checkers team will be performing their incredible aerobatic manoeuvres.
In addition to the military displays, civil aircraft including the Spitfire T-9, Thunder Mustang, DC-3 will also be on show, together with representatives from the Manawatu Microlight Club and Wanganui-Manawatu Gliding Club.
On the ground, a deployed camp will give visitors a chance to see what life is like during an overseas operation.

Welcome from Chief of Air Force, Air Vice-Marshal Graham Lintott

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Royal New Zealand Air Force Open Day for 2008.

This year’s Open Day at Ohakea includes an exciting programme of ground and air activities. We hope that these will give you the opportunity to see up close our air operations, the support behind those operations, and most importantly to meet the people who make our Air Force tick.

We also hope that you will get an understanding of the extraordinary range of activities that we are currently involved in, the diversity of skills and talent in our young Air Force people, and the exciting future that is almost upon us. That future includes upgrades or replacements of all our operational aircraft fleets and significant infrastructure projects here at Ohakea, some of which have already commenced and are visible in the North East quadrant.

Thanks for visiting our Open Day. We are proud of what we do for the people of New Zealand and we are honoured by your interest in your Air Force. We trust that you will thoroughly enjoy your day.
